Subject: Kids that Read, Succeed!
October 6th, 2017
Dear Syracuse City School District:
The Gaia Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated invites you and your students to join us this Saturday, October 7, 2017 for our empowerment through literacy event and book drive, Kids that Read, Succeed! Our event will be hosted from 12:30pm-2:30pm at the Petit Library on Westcott Street. It is open to the public because of course we would love for as many children and families to come as possible.
The Gaia Chapter believes that reading is a fundamental part of life; it provides a level of freedom like no other. It allows us to gain knowledge we never knew existed, while also teaching us how to use that knowledge in our everyday lives This Saturday, we will be hosting a book drive for the Syracuse community where children can come with their families to learn a few things, play some games and leave with some great books. With this event, we want to give children an ability to fall in love with reading by seeing the joy you can have when you are able to get lost in a book.
While at the event, we will have literacy stations with games and activities for everyone to participate. Raffle tickets will be handed out and children will have the opportunity to win prizes while at the literacy stations. The best part is that each child will be going home with at least one book of choice.
We as a chapter ask that you please share our event with your students and staff. We have attached a flyer for both the literacy event and book drive for you to give to your students if possible. We look forward to seeing you all there this weekend!
