We are looking for volunteers (staff, parents, community members) to help with the Building Men Program. Its purpose is to not only help young men realize the characteristics of men, but to also give them a chance to have fun and reflect on what they are doing to behave as young men. The program will only run until March when spring sports begin. It will have events once or twice a week. We are not sure how many participants we will have at this point but we are figuring to get around 60. The program this year will consist of a bi-weekly “Chalk Talk” which is basically a development meeting focusing on how to become a man, participation in a weekly basketball game, and progress reports from the students. To run the program we will need:
1. Coaches for the weekly basketball games 2. Referees for the basketball games 3. People to make/donate snacks 4. People to check progress reports (the point totals from the reports are added to the scores of the games) 5. People to facilitate chalk talks-we can start with the video/power point versions rather than having guest speakers if needed.
These events will be scheduled to take place right after school starting around 3:15. If you are interested in any of the above volunteer positions please let me or Mr. Miller (PE) know as soon as possible. Thank you, Jason
